Edo State Government on Thursday afternoon made good its threat, as it shut down the office of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), of the ongoing National Sports Festival, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin City.
Contrary to the threat by the local organizing committee of the ongoing 20th National Sports Festival, Edo 2020, to bring it to an abrupt close, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has said that the sports fiesta will go on as planned.
Gbenga Elegbeleye, a former Director-General of the defunct National Sports Commission (NSC), on Tuesday, commended organisers of the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) for postponing the event following the outbreak of coronavirus.
