Presidency says those agitating for secession cannot intimidate Buhari

The presidency has said those agitating for secession of Nigeria cannot intimidate President Muhammadu Buhari by their unbecoming actions.

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu said this on Tuesday at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, after attending an event organised by the APC Professional Forum.

According to Shehu, people said Buhari is not talking about the unity of this country, but said the president had made his position clear that this country is one and is united, and would continue to be united.

He said one thing about Buhari was that no one could intimidate or bully him in anyway by their actions.

Shehu stated that a lot of these people who are calling for secession are the problem of this country, saying he was happy that reasonable opinions, reasonable voices are now rising.

He added that Afenifere and the Ohanaeze Ndi’gbo had said they would never support secession of Nigeria.

“So, this thing about secession; they had used it in the past. You create secession and break up Nigeria and then, you intimidate the sitting leader and then he opens the booth and he brings money to settle people.

He said Buhari would never pay anyone, saying that it was clear that having ignored all of that, reasonable opinions are coming from those states and from those regions.

  1. It’s very clear that Buhari and his so called presidency do not understand the magnitude of the anger fuelling the secession agenda in Nigeria.

    Nigeria is badly underdeveloped.

The decade long slaves and masters relationship between the fulani and the rest of the ethnic nationalities have worsened under Buhari.

The lopsided appointments by Buhari, his tendency to always lean towards his fulani kinsmen has destroyed whatever was left of Nigeria’s unity.

The killer fulani herdsmen menace occasioned by the wanton abductions, rape, killings and butchering of Nigerians and subsequent razing of the farmlands by the killer fulani herdsmen without arrests and prosecutions is a major factor in the secession drive.

For Buhari and his so called presidency not to grasp that their level of injustices, improprieties, insecurity, underdevelopment, inequality, prejudices and bigotry is the integral part of secession drive and never pecuniary considerations then their cluelessness, insensitivities and indifference is
    annoyinglyy lamentable.

Day by Day Nigeria is inching closer and closer to a civil war, instead of engage the the aggrieved ethnic nationalities and lead Nigeria right and just, they are annoyingly begging the question.

What a government that lacks sound minds. What a failed regime.

  2. “According to Shehu, people said Buhari is not talking about the unity of this country, but said the president had made his position clear that this country is one and is united, and would continue to be united.” Talk and no action is not talk. How can you talk of going Lagos while heading for Abuja. The fulani herdsmen have turned Nigeria into security mess while the Buhari seat and watch foreign indegenes massacre and kidnapp for ransom with impunity. How could this security challenges remain unabated? Do we have a government? I think not. Shehu what’s the grand plan. Talk talk talk isn’t the solution. What’s your grand plan?…

  3. What a caption! As if Nigeria is Buhari’s personal possession for use as he deems fit. Anyway time will tell where we are headed.

What do you think?
