Atiku and Adesina: Presidency attacks Atiku over unsavory comment

The Presidency on Sunday attacked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying he is part of the rot the nation has become.

The presidency was reacting to comments made by Atiku over huge cases of unemployment in Nigeria and for saying that Nigeria is fast degenerating to a failed state.

According to Atiku, “I have never felt so bad at being proven right, as I am by the report from Bloomberg Business on Saturday, March 27, 2021 that Nigeria is to emerge as the nation with the highest unemployment rate on Earth, at just over 33%.

“We warned about this, but repeated warnings by myself and other patriots were scorned. And now this. We are at a precipice as a nation and the truth is that all stakeholders and elder statesmen have to speak up on time, while there is still a Nigeria to save.

“This government obviously lacks the capacity to address our current challenges, and we must help them, not because of the government, but because of our people.

“In a situation where we are simultaneously the world headquarters for extreme poverty, the world capital for out of school children, and the nation with the highest unemployment rate on Earth, there is a very real and present danger that we might slip into the failed states index – God forbid!”
Speaking in an interview on Channels TV Sunday Politics, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said what Atiku said about 30 million Nigerians out of job was not new.
He said in the build-up to the 2015 elections, when the APC was campaigning, the figure that was used by Buhari was that a minimum of 30 million Nigerians were unemployed, particularly youths and that his government was going to do something about it.
He said that was in 2014/2015, saying that Atiku should not make it appear like a genie that just came out of the bottle, as the statistics had always been there.
Adesina stated that Atiku was in power for eight years, saying that now that he is in the opposition, one could not take whatever he said as the gospel.
He said the question is “when Abubakar was in government with President Olusegun Obasanjo, where did they take the country? Where did they leave the country?”

Adesina added that he had seen clips on social media where Atiku said some things they promised to do, particularly on power; and that some people collected some trillions and didn’t deliver.

“Former Vice-President is part of the rot this country became. He cannot exculpate himself; he cannot sit in judgment over anybody. He played his part for eight years and they left the country where they left it,” he said.

According to him, Atiku could not like Pontius Pilate, begin to wash himself clean of what Nigeria has become.

  1. Atiku is right to speak out against the APC, Buhari’s killer fulani herdsmen led federal government.

I have never seen any government more corrupt and incompetent like Buhari’s government.

They have failed woefully in all spheres of governance. They failed in the economy, they failed in the anti corruption crusade. They failed in security. They failed in unifying Nigeria. They failed in socioeconomic leanings. They have failed all round.

How could anyone justify the approval of 1.5 billion dollars by Buhari for the rehabilitation of a refinery in River State that it’s value is less than 1 billion dollar.

Just recently a refinery of the same capacity was sold off in California USA at 1.2 billion dollars, yet Buhari that always claim that he is against corrupt practices is spending a whopping 1.5 billion dollars just on rehabilitation.

This is the same President that approved N27 billion naira just for the renovation of the national assembly. I kept wondering how much would Buhari Bill Nigerians if he was to build a new national assembly complex. How much does it cost to build a factory in Nigeria if Buhari could use N27 billion naira to renovate the national assembly complex.

I’m more than convinced that the present federal government of Nigeria is the most corrupt government, Nigeria ever had. They are ten times more corrupt than Abacha.

Fancy this. Jonathan conducted 2015 election with 95 billion naira but Buhari conducted 2019 election with 214 billion naira. Isn’t it obvious that Buhari is leading Nigeria to Golgotha.

What a failed regime. What a fantastically corrupt government..

What a situation. I take a stroll. Nonsense.

  2. Adesina is 100% right. Atiku has no credibility. This is the same corrupt clown that laid off employees in his own companies. Atiku has shown himself over and over again to be nothing more than a political rogue. I’ve said it before, and I say it again, nobody with an IQ above room temperature will ever vote for Atiku. His plan and that of Tinubu is to loot the treasury.

  3. I just have sympathy for Adesina. He works round the clock to save the reputation of his principal. Unfortunately, he makes mockery of himself each time he attempts to do so. Agreed, Buhari used those figures during campaigns in 2014 with a promise to reverse the situation. He was given a mandate and five years down the line , the situation gets worse by the day. Stop blaming those that failed and were booted out. Blame the man that promised change but has made things worse under his watch.

  4. Atiku,Buhari, useless Femi Adesina, Garbage Shehu,Liar Muhammed etc are all part of Nigeria problem and I wish we can have military back in government though it’s an aberration but better than this madocracy called democracy.

  5. Atiku is always hallucinating and thinks bombing the present administration is the only solution to win the hearts. I concede the fact that economy is down sliding, nobody can puncture the fact that the present administration has done much in terms of infrastructure and road construction. P Opposition and bad mouth politicians do not see anything good about this administration.

  6. Atiku is a complete shameless man desperate to be president. That am sure he will never be.
All that comes to his mind is how to come back and loot. He hunks it is his turn to rule Nigeria. But that’s not going to happen.
He can never be in government again.
