Updated: Lagos judicial panel issues compensation to victims of Police brutality

The Lagos State judicial panel hearing cases of police brutality on Friday, awarded compensation to some victims of police brutality the panel has heard their cases and found meritorious.

Some petitioners who received compensation of N10 million are Adebayo Abayomi for the extra judicial kiling of his mother, and Hannah Olugbodi for the being shot by a police officer among others.

Justice Doris Okuwobi (retrd) in her reccomendation also noted that erring officers who have commited these abuses are sanctioned.

  1. It’s good to see this outcome.
    I can imagine how much this will impact on the police force, if this monies was drawn from the police budget.

    But the fact that it is the Lagos state government that is making the payment will not serve the police authority any lesson to give proper training to its officers.

    • We need proper disposal of government funds to the proper training agencies. The national government needs to stop hoarding the budget, pocketing money & making excuses! If you can pay for the new streets and filling of pothole, GET US SOME PROPER WELL TRAINED WELL EQUIPMENT!! Jesus, help us please.
