Governor Seyi Makinde sends 200 Amotekun officers to Oke Ogun, Ibarapa

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced the deployment of 200 officers of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun to Ibarapa and Oke Ogun zones.

This is in the wake of the crisis in the area between local farmers and Fulani herdsmen accused of masterminding rape, murder, and kidnapping.

The state government said on Wednesday that the officers were deployed after a meeting with security agencies and stakeholders in Ibarapa land.

The meeting was held with representatives of Igangan, Ibarapaland, the recently appointed Commissioner of Police, Oyo State, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko, and other stakeholders.

“We have resolved to redeploy 200 members of the Oyo State Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun to kidnapping/banditry hotspots in the state, especially in the Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun zones.

“These operatives will launch missions to rid the forests of criminals. They will be presenting daily reports of their activities to me in the short run and periodic reports in the long run.

The governor said that town hall meetings and community outreaches would hold in few weeks to enable residents and security officers to talk about issues of immediate concerns.

  1. Talk is cheap, and I would not trust any deceptive governor, who is probably a while-collar herdsman. Let Makinde and his likes swear openly that they do not own herds of cattle and that they do not employ the Fulanis to take care of their cattle for them. Point blank, majority of those Fulanis do not own the animals by themselves, rather they are only employed by people like Governor Makinde to take care of the animals and providing them with AK-47 with the knowledge of the police. Now that someone like Sunday Oke-Ogun who appears to identify the hypocrisy of the ‘constituted authorities’ and the pains of his people has resolved to challenge their dirty game, they start a campaign against him and calling for his head. It’s not going to happen! Governor Makinde & Co should bring their cattle from Oke-Ogun to government house or Agodi secretariat where they are enough fodder to feed the animals.
