This month is no different with Davido’s #Jowo off A Better Time reaching over 60 million view and other trends taking the spotlight:
Nigerian superstar Davido’s “Jowo”, has taken on a life of its own on TikTok as users react to the song’s love-tinged lyrics which has exploded across social media in the last three months.
In the first seven days of the sound going viral on TikTok, it received over 6K video creations and has since gotten over 61M views.

This #singleandsearchingchallenge owes its popularity to a song of the same title by popular Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade.
Though not a new song, TikTok’s penchant for seeking out nostalgic sounds has given the song a second lease of life inspired by a video of creator @JenniFrank29 asking people to get involved in similar duet videos.
In its first week, the #singleandsearchingchallenge got over 2M views and currently has over 32.3M views
Nollywood actress and movie producer Adunni Ade who helped shape a connective bridge between acting in Yoruba, English, and Pidgin, which are some of the most popular languages for expression in the country has similarly brought that appeal to TikTok.
The iconic star and mother of one has been making funny and relatable content for her followers since Nigeria’s first COVID-19 lockdown.
She has attempted numerous viral challenges and dance steps and built a followership of over 80,000 people.
