Frank Lampard: Expresses disappointment over sack

Chelsea’s manager, Frank Lampard

Chelsea FC manager, Frank Lampard has explained why Everton defeated the Blues 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday night.

According to Lampard, Chelsea players were not at their best against Carlos Ancelotti’s men, adding that they didn’t show enough to break the host down.

A first-half penalty from Gylfi Sigurdsson gave Everton all three points against Chelsea at Goodison Park.

“We could have got something out of the game, but I wouldn’t say we were unlucky,” Lampard was quoted by Chelsea’s official website as saying after the game.

“We didn’t pepper their goal with great opportunities. We weren’t at our best. We didn’t deal with the physicality of the early parts of the game well.

“Once you go 1-0 down you give yourself a problem and give them something to hang on to. We didn’t show enough to break them down.

“If we are honest with ourselves, it wasn’t us of recently,” he added.

Chelsea’s next fixture is against Wolves in the Premier League.
