The All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker and Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee said Samuel Nda-Isaiah, the late publisher of Leadership newspaper was a hard-working and faithful party man.

The committee said this in a statement signed by Mr Ismaeel Ahmed on Sunday in Abuja, adding that the APC and the country had lost a media icon with the death of Nda-Isaiah.

He added that Nda-Isaiah was dedicated to the ideals of the party, stood for and fought for them strongly and passionately.

Ahmed said the party received the news of his death with shock, a heavy heart, and grieve.

“In fact, he took the great leap to affirm the ideals he believed in by seeking to be the party’s presidential flag bearer in 2014 presidential primaries.

“He was part and parcel of the journey that brought our party to its formation, and ultimately the growth we have achieved in the last 6 years.

“Whenever the party gave tasks to him, they were carried out dutifully and with the highest sense of responsibility.

“This indeed was the classic Nda-Isaiah, a hard worker who was passionate about the growth and development of his community, party and his country,” Ahmed said.

He noted that Nda-Isaiah set industry standards as a media practitioner and publisher, saying that he would be forever a reference point to media practitioners in the country.

“Like the name of his newspaper: Leadership Newspaper; For God and Country, Nda-Isaiah was driven by faithfulness to God and patriotism to the country in whatever decision he took,” he said.

Ahmed added that the country had lost a man full to the brim of ideas and solutions.

“Unfortunately, we have lost him at a time the nation needed his contributions more than ever.

“The chairman and members of the caretaker committee deeply mourn this great loss and extends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the media industry,” he said.

He prayed to God to grant Nda-Isaiah’s soul a perfect rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Nda-Isaiah, a trained pharmacist, was a presidential aspirant of the APC platform in 2015.

The deceased who was born on May 1, 1962, died on Friday at the age of 58 after a brief illness.

He worked briefly as a pharmacist at the Kano Specialist Hospital before moving to General Hospital, Minna.

He began his columnist work with the Daily Trust Editorial Board as a board member and worked as a committee member in Kano State Government to revive The Triumph, the state-owned newspaper.

In 2003, Nda-Isaiah headed President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential campaign publicities.

The late Nda-Isaiah who used to have a weekly column in Daily Trust entitled: “Last Word and Earshot” founded the Leadership Newspaper Group in 2001, where the column became one of the most popular in the country.
