Buhari issued marching order to take fight to insurgents

By Kazeem Ugbodaga

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday gave a marching order to the military to take the fight to the insurgents following Saturday’s killing of 43 farmers in Borno, Northeast Nigeria.

Boko Haram terrorists had on Saturday slit the throat of 43 farmers in a rice far at Zabarmari in Borno State.

Buhari, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, said nothing is more important than ensuring the security of lives and property of Nigerians.

He stated that everything is secondary when security is at stake.

“I will ensure that more resources are made available to the military and other security agencies to prosecute the war against terrorism.

“As we mourn all the lives lost in Zabarmari, the Armed Forces have been given the marching order to take the fight to the insurgents, not on a one-off, but on a continuous basis, until we root out the terrorists,” he added.

According to Buhari, his government would intensify cooperation with neighbouring countries on bilateral and multilateral levels, to ensure that there is no hiding place for the terrorists.

“As I noted earlier, the massacre by Boko Haram in Zabarmari is nothing short of senseless, barbaric, gruesome and cowardly. It reinforces our resolve to root out all forms of insurgency and insecurity not just in Borno but everywhere across Nigeria,” he said.

  • The military hierarchy no longer take him seriously. As far as they are concerned they are empty order. How many times has he issued these orders and what came out them? Nothing but more killings. So what has changed this time? These soldiers only know how to harass unarmed civilians but become gentle when they

face BH. We have been hearing all sorts of adjectives decimate, neutralize, wiped out and so on yet these people keeps waxing stronger and stronger every day. Are they spirits. Who they are deceiving?

  • Damn! You beat me to it. I was gonna ask the same question. Nigeria is a laughingstock among Nations.
God forbid if another incident happens, Buhari is going to give another "marching orders," he's a laughingstock, dog that bark cannot bite. A comedian. Unbelievable,I supported, believed he was gonna put an end to Boko Haram because he was a tough military guy but hell no he's a failure. Sad.

  • How many times is the president going to give marching orders to the military to take the fight to the insurgents. It has become empty orders. Buratai deceived Nigerians he was relocating to the North east last April and would be there until BH was defeated. What happened to the promise. This is so frustrating. Why is the president giving the order 6 years into office when ending insurgency was one of his election promises. As usual nothing will come out of the latest order until the next slaughtering.
