Oyo State on Wednesday broke its own state record logging 100 new COVID-19 cases on the Nigerian grim daily leaderboard, taking its caseload to 1,155.

The state was second to grim trailblazer Lagos, which recorded 250 cases to build 9,323 cases overall.

Nigeria recorded 649 new cases on Wednesday, taking the national caseload to 22,020.

According to the NCDC, six other states recorded fresh infections above 20 cases.

Plateau and Delta states tied with 40 cases each.
