Obaseki: court stops his participation from PDP primary
Governor Godwin Obaseki has been stopped by a Federal High Court from participating in the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The primary election is scheduled for 25 June.
The ban order was given 22 June by Justice E.A. Obile of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.
It was based on a motion ex parte filed by a PDP member, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama.
Joined in the suit are Prince Uche Secondus, the PDP, Independent National Electoral Commission, chairman of the party screening committee, Kingsley Chinda and other members of the committee.
Obaseki, an APC renegade, was named as the eighth defendant in the case.
The applicant is seeking a court order to restrain Secondus and the party from allowing Obaseki to buy the forms for the primary, other than those who bought the forms within the timetable initially published for the election.
Justice Obile granted the interim injunction as requested.
The PDP, mindful of the legal minefield announced a waiver for Obaseki, to enable him to participate in the primary election, even though he joined the party only on Friday 19 June last week.
The party also reconvened the Chinda screening committee which had ended its assignment on 5 June
The committee specially screened Obaseki on Saturday 20 June.
All the parties in the case were to be served via substituted means.
Substantive hearing in the case has been adjourned till Wednesday 24 June.

No way! Obasick must participate in the election. Although, he is going to loose in the election
This is very good. Let us see how the PDP will criticise the Judiciary when all along they have been praising some of the criminal judges.
Obaseki, Nkpelok!
Dear Godwin Obaseki, please approach WAEC to validate your WASC and HSC/ GCE A/L because there is no way you could have been admitted to University of Ibadan for an Arts course in the 70s/ 80s without a valid A/Level result given your weak WASC/ GCE O/L result. During this era, U.I was not admitting students in the prelim/ concessional classes in pure Arts! It’s even annoying that some people are egging you on when they know you are in the class of Salisu Buharis of this world.
One is worried that University of Ibadan cannot take a definite stand on this matter which bothers on ethics, particularly as it prides itself in character and learning. How did the great U.I manage to admit and graduate a candidate with 3 credits for direct entry? We all know U.I was not one of these IJMB schools. If Obaseki presented a valid A/L result then U.I has a responsibility to clear this anomaly. As things stand, U.I owes the public a responsibility on how it manages to get embroiled in this raging admission/ graduation monumental scandal/ saga.
Were Obaseki to be an academia contesting for the Vice Chancellorship of U.I and this revelation is coming to limelight, would U.I claim he is a valid/ authentic graduate based on this yawning gap/ error? You cannot build something upon nothing, Obaseki is not a Uite, having not fulfilled the conditions for admission to this premier University, or is UI this heavily compromised now? Please withdraw this certificate to preserve the integrity and consistency which makes U.I enjoy global acclaim. ‘Seki, we are waiting.
From frying pan to fire. Obaseki has gone into another web of court? In fact, he is court order himself. At the end, arrongancy has cost him all right and privileges he has been enjoying.
God is finally going to answer the people of Edo State. May He with this crisis in both parties allow an unknown person to Governor Edo State because both Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu are scammers. This is the only way to liberate the state. If Obaseki wins, Wike is the godfather while Oshiomole is that of Ize-Iyamu. God please answer my prayers in Jesus name. Amen
An ingrate like Obaseki cannot be supported by a sensible person if not a clown like Wike. Never seen a gullible idiot like Wike
I know it will be like this , I saw it but I wonder why obaseki and uche secondus didn’t consider the legal implications of this
Because they are both dullards, Secondus just like Obaseki are intellectual lilliputs!
