The gang, according to police, had been terrorising Ondo town, Ore, Ipetu Ijesha, Edo and Oyo States for a long time before nemesis caught up with them.

Those arrested were leader of the gang, Yinka Oyinloye; Olufemi Olamide, and alleged receiver of the stolen cars who was based in Kaduna State, Musliu Abdulazeez.

Trouble started for the suspects in April, 2020 when CP Fimihan Adeoye received a distress call from one Ifeoluwa Fagbohunka, a resident of Italu Rogbo area of Ondo State that three gunmen attacked him and snatched his Toyota Camry car with Reg. number LND313FB, handsets, and other valuables.

The squad tracked the stolen car to Kwara State and recovered it from Oyinloye when trying to get a buyer for it.

The police brought the suspect and the recovered car back to Ondo.

During investigation, according to the police, Oyinloye allegedly confessed to the crime and said that he was the leader of a five-man gang that had been snatching cars from owners in Ondo, Ore, Edo and Oyo States for about three years.

Oyinloye then led the police to arrest Oluwafemi in Ondo and an alleged receiver of stolen cars Musliu Abdullazeez in Kaduna, while others managed to escaped.

Abdullazeez allegedly told the police that he had been buying stolen cars from Oyinloye and his gang for long and selling them in Kaduna State.
