Sharon Godwin and Ralph Akinola: a love affair gone sour over money

An Ugandan lady, Sharon Godwin has dragged a Nigerian boyfriend to the Nigerian Social media space to report him about an unredeemed debt.

But the accused Nigerian lover, Ralph Damilola Akinola, from Ogun state, said she is a cheat and has not written the truth.

Sharon, a blogger and writer, met the Nigerian, Akinola online last year and both struck a romantic relationship.

The romance soon led to Akinola visiting with Sharon in Uganda in December 2019.

The cost of the trip was to be shared 50-50.

According to her story, when Akinola got to Uganda in December last year, Sharon found that he came with no money.

She thus had to bankroll the entire trip, comforted by a promise by Akinola that she would refund her money.

After the Nigerian returned home, a week later, Sharon claimed she has not heard from him.

And even more eerily, Akinola, she said, has blocked her from his Instagram page.

Sharon, with the Twitter address as @AlumBaeOfficial, was obviously left with no other option than to go public with her story.

“I don’t like doing this but this shit has gone way beyond my patience. I just have to say it out. Myself and One of your Nigerian Twitter influencers,Ralph @OmoIyaDammy have known ourselves for sometime now. We met on Twitter & talked everyday. The energy was massive & undeniable”, Sharon wrote..

“We got into a relationship and it was all nice & good. We grew closer everyday. Video calls, texts, late night chats. We agreed to see in December and that made us happy.

“We came up with the agreement to split the billing 50-50 as it would be too much on him to carry.

“Ralph arrived Uganda on 18th December, 2019. I received him from the airport and we were fucking excited to meet like expected, we went to the hotel that I paid for with my money. This guy was ordering for expensive shit only but I paid and that was where this story began.

‘I noticed he didn’t come with money at least his 50% as we previously agreed, I was stunned and couldn’t believe it but being an actor & all he has always had his way with words and promised he was gonna refund half of whatever I would spend on him during his stay in Uganda.

“I agreed and obviously wanted to please him and get the relationship moving.
We had fun. Did some sight seeing and had quality time together. One week quickly passed and he traveled back to Nigeria. I paid for his ticket back home.

“It’s been 5 months now & I haven’t seen my money. I see him balling tho. All I want is my cash because asides blogging, Twitter and school, I’m my own woman. Ralph had the nerve to block me on Whatsapp. Nigerians ask
@OmoIyaDammy Ralph to please refund my money!!!”, Sharon concluded.

Her tweet generated a lot of attention from Nigerians, such that Sharon trended on Saturday in Twitter Nigeria.

Many Nigerian who commented were sympathetic to her and some urged Akinola to redeem her pledge.

But Akinola has denied her story, saying she has not told the truth and accusing her of being a cheat.

“I don’t seem to understand why someone will call me out and not put the whole story in place.

“Yes, I went to Uganda out of my unconditional love for Sharon @AlumBaeOfficial. I risked my Life and so many things.

“I borrowed money, added to some of my savings and went. I fell in love with her all over again but i got my heart shattered when I discovered she was a cheat! I felt used and betrayed . How can you cheat and be so at peace with it?”, he wrote.

Akinola, who describes himself as actor and skit maker, posted a snapshot of their conversation where he accused her of being a cheat, having an affair with another man. In the snapshot, he also vowed never to pay her again.

Sharon v Akinola’s chat

However, one South African lady who dabbled into the matter and tried to paint Nigerian men black got tonnes of responses from Nigerians, as well.

She was simply told to simply stop stereotyping all Nigerian men.

“See what I told you about Nigerian men 🤮🤮 badlisa iteam yamadoda yazi “, @ZathuANKosi wrote, to attract the fury of Nigerians.
