The Federal Government has decided to lift bans on religious gatherings, providing new guidelines.
This is the latest dough, freshly hot from the ovens of the powers that be at Aso Villa.
Do I, in this moment, need to take us back to what is still tearing out our nation – the world- up till today?
The Federal Government have made a major decision- one that is likely to throw us into more doldrums than what’s present. The coronavirus pandemic has left our nation completely shaken.
So, why go ahead to put more people at high- level risks?
Making controversial decisions is a job attached to being a leader, quite alright. But if we have not lost our will to safety and in all ramifications, thrown caution to the wind, we should understand the narrative; the country lacks capability in handling more coronavirus cases.
It’s not even like we are out of the woods yet. We still wake up to new cases everyday. And there is a disaster in the way the situation is being handled in the Northern side of the country. There are inadequate standard health facilities across the country.
It is why I find it unnecessary and absolutely not a tactical move to reopen churches and mosques nationwide at the moment.
I can imagine the possibility of Mr. President ‘bowing’ to some form of pressure to make this move. That remains to be seen though, but I strongly believe that Mr. President and his aides should by now be able to comprehend the gravity of this virus.
And if you do not know, in France, thousands of people contracted the virus from just one church before all forms of social gathering were brought to a halt.
If the Federal Government has decided to make this move, they should be ready for its consequences.
And we simply know for a fact that they are not.
