Boko Haram leader Yahaya

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Friday declared that a Boko Haram terrorist voluntarily surrendered as troops intensify the war against insurgency in the North-east.

The terrorist identified as Yahaya was stated to have led the last attack on troops in Baga town.

Yahaya also participated in attacks on Metele, Mairari, Bindiram, Kangarwa and Shetimari (Niger Republic)

A statement released by DHQ reads: “Yahaya AKA Saad Karami, voluntarily surrendered to troops of 242 Battalion in Monguno. He led the last attack on #Troops in Baga town and equally participated in attacks on Metele, Mairari, Bindiram, Kangarwa, and Shetimari (Niger Republic).”

Other items captured by Nigerian Troops include 1 Cobra Armoured Personnel Carrier, 3 Hand Grenades, 1 Dushka Anti-Aircraft Gun, 2 AK 47 Rifle magazines, 1FN Rifle magazine, 78 rounds of 12.7mm Anti-Aircraft ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

241 persons comprising 105 women and 136 children in captivity of the terrorists were also rescued by troops
