Muslims praying
Muslim faithful in Kwara have expressed readiness to obey the government’s order on social gathering and physical distancing during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Some Muslims, who spoke in Ilorin on Friday, expressed their readiness to adhere to the social gathering restriction order.
Alhaji Ibrahim Ganiyu said he had no problem in celebrating the Eid-el-Fitr indoor so as to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“There is no big deal in celebrating indoor with my family. This is not the time to celebrate with friends and family. Our priority now is to stay safe,” he said.
Another Muslim, Mrs Mariam Audu said she would obey government order and observe the Sallah prayer at home.
“It is not a must that we should go to Eid praying ground to observe prayers. Every Muslim should just consider safety first before any other thing,” she said.
Mr Rafiu Jimoh said he will make merry with his family indoor and avoid receiving visitors on Sallah day.
“I will lock my door. No need of any visitation. My own safety and my family is the first priority on my mind. I will even lead the prayers in my house,” he said.
On her part, Ms Fatimoh Abdulrasheed said she would celebrate on a low key as she would avoid going to parks, recreational centres and bars.
“It is for our own sake and not the government’s sake. Muslims must understand that the government wants the best for us. It is not that they are depriving us our right as some people are made to believe,” she said.
Another Muslim, Mr Taiwo Hamza said he would respect government order and avoid unnecessary crowd.
“If possible, I will isolate myself from the public on that day. I don’t want any problem for myself. I will stay indoors and eat whatever I want,” he said.
The Kwara Government have placed a ban on social gathering in the state and as well, advised the public to observe physical distancing to contain COVID-19.
