In a bid to ensure the ease of doing business, particularly during the lockdown ordered by the Federal and the Lagos State Governments to curb further spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (PPA) has issued new guidelines for registration, renewal and upgrade of registration of contractors, suppliers and consultants with the agency.

Speaking on the guidelines, the General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, explained that the Agency released the guidelines to further enhance the State Government’s policy on the ease of doing business in the State.

Onafowote further pointed out that since government must continue to provide services for the people despite the lockdown, the need for the Agency to develop a creative system that would enable contractors, suppliers and consultants doing business or desiring to do business with the State Government to be able to do so, therefore, became imperative so that the State Government could continue to provide goods and services for the people of the State.

The General Manager noted that the guidelines, therefore, provided details on the steps to follow by contractors, suppliers and consultants to register, renew or upgrade their registration with the Agency, stressing that the Law setting up the agency made it mandatory for contractors, suppliers and consultants to register with the agency to be eligible for participation in bids for award of contracts in any Ministry, Department or Agency of the State Government.

He added that the guidelines also lists the steps to follow by contractors, suppliers and consultants who transact business with the State Government for the payment of Development Levy, Administrative and Agreement fees.

Details of the Guidelines and the Payment Categorization Tables are published on the Agency’s Website: www.lagosppa.gov.ng.
