Man waiting to be punished for messing up with UAE’s currency

A man may be liable to pay a fine of $272,000 after sneezing on the currency of the United Arab Emirates.

The Police in Dubai arrested the man over a video he posted on social media.

In the video, the man can be seen pretend-sneezing on the currency.

He was also seen using the note to clean himself.

UAE laws regard his action as an insult to an Emirati symbol.

He has been referred to the authority concerned for further action, the police said.

The police said that the cybercrime law specifies a maximum fine of Dh1 million and a prison term for insulting the country or its symbols.

The police also posted the suspect’s photo on their social media channels without blurring his face, reports Khaleej Times.
