The death of a trader in Ojodu Berger area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria during an encounter with officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, last Friday has sparked off a protest in the area.
The trader was said to have slumped while trying to recover her seized goods from the agency officials and was rushed to the hospital where she later gave up the ghost.
The traders came out en-masse to air their grievances.
They accused officials of LAGESC of extortion and harassment every week.
The Baale of Ojodu while addressing the angry traders advised them not to take matters into their own hands.
He promised to do a follow up on the matter and also talk to the government to provide a proper market for Ojodu since the one they had was taking by the previous administration.
