Nigerians have reacted to Rotimi Amaechi’s interview where he stated that he didn’t enter Nigerian politics to solve problems but rather because he was unemployed.
In an interview with the Punch newspapers, the Minister of Transportation spoke about his life before and during politics.
He shared insights from previous positions as the former governor of Rivers state, Speaker of Rivers House of Assembly, and many others.
Whilst answering a question on how he developed an interest in Nigerian politics, he was quoted as saying; ”My father was a politician. He ran for councillorship during his time. However, I didn’t join politics because I wanted to be a leader or because I wanted to solve Nigeria’s problems. I joined because of unemployment. I also believe there is a part that grace played in it”.
This response has left a sour taste in the mouths of concerned Nigerians. The hashtag ”RotimiAmaechi” has garnered over 3,500 tweets. Read some of their reactions below

Three lessons from Rotimi Amaechi interview;
1. We run a well defined gerontocracy in this Country.
2. Government is a rocket science(most of Nigerian leaders didn't join politics to solve problems but to create more).
3. We are on our own in this Country. One ticket.

Anyone surprised about what Rotimi Amaechi said hasn't been to Rivers State.
Politics is a career there.
Rivers is a state I know you'd see an unemployed person and he'll tell you his "work" is politics.
I saw girls brag about their guys being close to a politician as occupation.— Oriaku (@slaywriter) May 17, 2020
If unemployment forced Rotimi into politics,
Who you?
How do you form?
How do you exist ?Thank you Rotimi Amaechi for revealing why Nigeria is what it is and how the future remains bleak.

Pre 2019 elections, Governor Udom once said something along the line that the people who were wishing war on the state by using federal might were doing so because they didn't have any second address. Politics was their only means of survival. Rotimi Amaechi just confirmed that pic.twitter.com/y2TWDmCMcx
