Ghana still leads Nigeria in coronavirus cases

COVID-19 cases in Ghana surpass 5,000

COVID-19 cases in Ghana have increased to 5,127 after 427 new cases were confirmed on Tuesday by the country’s health agency.,

The country has now become the first in West Africa to surpass 5,000 in the number of confirmed cases.

Nigeria, which is the second worst-hit in the region has 4641 cases.

The head of the Ghana Health Service, Patrick Kuma-Aboagye said 494 patients had recovered.

Another 22 patients have died, he said.

As of Tuesday morning, Ghana has conducted 161,203 tests for COVID-19.

Nigeria in contrast has only done 28,418 tests.

Despite lifting a partial lockdown, Ghana has extended a ban on public gatherings till the end of May.
