Kano State Government has confirmed 65 new cases of coronavirus disease in the State.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, had on Friday announced 386 new cases of coronavirus disease in the country.

Out of the 386 cases announced, Kano recorded 65.

Confirming the development, the Kano State ministry of Health in a tweet via its Twitter handle on Saturday stated that 3 more coronavirus patients have been discharged.

The tweet read “COVID19 Kano Update as at 11:35pm 8th May 2020.

“65 new cases of COVID19 Kano cases confirmed.

“Total confirmed cases in Kano state are now 547.

“3 more coronavirus patients have been discharged from the isolation facility to reunite with their family and the society.

“Total discharged now 22, while 5 deaths were recorded.“

In the same development, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, also confirmed four (4) new cases of coronavirus in the State.

Makinde, who doubles as Chairman of the COVID-19 task force committee in the State, made this announcement in a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle.

Oyo State now has 59 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Makinde tweeted, “The COVID-19 confirmation tests for four suspected cases came back positive.

“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is fifty-nine.

“Please call the Emergency Operations Centre on 08095394000 | 08095863000 | 08078288999 | 08078288800, if you find travellers from other States arriving in your community”.
