Maryam Ali Adamu, Chief Executive Officer of Aljism Skincare Products  has two missions she has set her sight on in life

One, to make women look beautiful as a skincare therapist and two, to make women independent and successful in business, as a business mogul herself and motivational speaker.

She is a skincare products therapists and a powerful motivator and adviser for women in business. She strongly believes that breaking the stereotype of women only serving as baby-making machines must be a thing of the past. Maryam Ali Adamu is a typical example and proving this with every life she touches.

According to her, “Women have always been thought to compete with one another but I encourage the opposite. I believe collectively, women have a better and stronger impact in the society. Due to scarcity of women in business in the northern parts of Nigeria, the reality is raising one another up and encouraging and patronizing one another, is the greatest way to balance the equation. Women’s table has more strength when balanced by one another. Competing doesn’t allow growth rather it creates segregation,” she said.

Citing practical instances from a recent article she wrote on women empowering women, Adamu mentioned how most women who patronise her use funds from their own personal business proceeds to buy her products and how she equally patronizes them to encourage them.

“The stereotype of women not supporting women needs to be reversed. Women who support other women are more successful in business. Breaking the stereotype of women only serving as baby-making machines must become history,” she added.

Adamu, who is the wife of Yusuf Gidado Idris, son of the former Secretary to Government of the Federation during the General Sani Abacha regime,  believes in the education of the girl child. She believes an educated girl becomes an educated mother who births educated children who are the leaders of tomorrow. According to her, successful women are produced from the grassroots. She said women like Mary Barra of General Motors, Gail Boudreaux of Anthem, Ginni Rometty of IBM, Indra Nooyi of PepsiCo are typical examples of how women can become leaders in the society.

In the Northern parts of Nigeria, very few women are CEO of large corporations. Maryam Ali Adamu believes in encouraging young female entrepreneurs to grow and succeed in various businesses, believing that they can also be as successful as the likes of Indra Nooyi one day soon. She is passionate about empowering others as well as building herself. She believes passion is a great motivator.

Adamu is a graduate of Business Administration and Law from the Coventry University, England. She is the daughter of Dr Ali Adamu, former Executive Secretary of the National Primary Education Commission during the General Sani Abacha regime and presently a business mogul into Oil and Gas.

She decided to study skincare after she had Masters in Law in England in order to find a solution to her own skin problems. Shortly after her two and a half years program, she was able to start her own skincare line, Aljism Skincare Products, using everything she learnt.

When she came back to Nigeria, family and friends encouraged her to help other people by producing and selling skincare products to make others equally flawless. She started producing and selling skincare products in November 2017.

Today, she is the most successful skincare therapist in Northern Nigeria. Her brand, Aljism Skincare has become a household name. You can hardly bump into 10 northern women without at least 8 knowing Aljism Skincare Products and its CEO, Maryam Ali Adamu.

Maryam has also created a platform on Instagram where people are able to send her direct messages on how to become successful entrepreneurs. She has helped so many people grow and succeed in various businesses. She has impacted so many lives with both her skincare range and entrepreneurial knowledge.
