To cushion the effect of the sit-at-home order of the Rivers State Government, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Wednesday distributed foodstuff to the people of Ahoada West and Emohua Local Government Areas.
The Governor who was represented by the Chairman of Rivers State Palliatives Committee, Ambassador Desmond Akawor urged the leaders of the area to ensure that the foodstuff gets to the people.
He said that the foodstuff must get to the less privileged people irrespective of their political interests.
The Governor urged the people to continue to respect the State Government’s directive aimed at keeping the virus at bay.
At Emohua Local Government Area, he directed that the foodstuff gets to all the communities of the LGA.
Responding, the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Chief Tom Aliezi thanked Governor Wike for his reaching out to the people of the area.
In Ahoada West Local Government Area, Evangelist Hope Ikiriko said that the Local Government Area appreciates Governor Wike for his commitment to their welfare.
Rev. Cannon Agoma Ogonu (Ward 2), Chief. Abraham Laime (Ward 4), Blessing Gogo (Ward 3), Hon. Mrs Amoa Eniata Abieba (Ward 1) and Rev Fr. Paul N. Njoku (Ward 1) assured the Rivers State Governor that the foodstuffs will get to those in the rural areas.
Okereke Christopher (Ward 1) and Jude Odum (Ward 1), Chairman of Physical Challenge, Ahoada West thanked Governor Wike for the foodstuff.
