Coronavirus: Lagos Water Corporation promises continuous supply of potable water

Lagos Water Corporation has re-affirmed its commitment towards sustaining potable water supply to Lagos residents.

This was made known by the Corporation’s Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus on Thursday 7th May 2020, in Lagos.

Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) boss noted that Lagos residents, particularly, residents of Shomolu, Dolphin, Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria Island (Saka Tinubu, Magodo, Itire Ikate, Mosan Okunola, Ikorodu (Lagos Road), Ojokoro, Akilo, Oworonshoki, Lagos Island, Mainland, Yaba/Ebute-Metta, amongst other have been commending the efforts of the Corporation, because of their access to potable water supply, especially, at this critical period of Coronavirus.

He, however, assured Lagosians of continuous sustainability of Water supply, because its importance cannot be underestimated at this Coronavirus pandemic stage, adding that the Corporation is undauntedly determined to support Government efforts of eradicating the virus from the State.

Noting that regular washing of hands with soap and clean running water as one of the preventive measures against the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) is of high importance to the Residents and Government at large.

Engr. Badmus, however, urged Lagosians to conserve and use water wisely, because its the only trusted and reliable source which cannot be compared to other informal sectors.

Adding that customers should also support government efforts by paying their water bills when due, by taking advantage of the new payment channels recently rolled out by the Corporation for easy payment of water bills from the comfort of their homes.

In the same vein, the Lagos Water Corporation, through Water Quality Assurance Department has embarked on Headquarters, Waterworks, Regional Business Offices and other Water Formations disinfection as a preventive strategy/measure to curb the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in the State, particularly, the State Water Corporation.

“The action is geared towards the partial resumption to work of staffs from level 15 and above as directed by the Lagos State, Incident Commander on Covid-19, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, Governor, Lagos State”.

The disinfection exercise commenced on Monday 4th May 2020 at the Water-House, Ijora, Lagos, as part of its continuous efforts towards curbing the spread of the Covid-19, making the environment unendangered and invulnerable for its Staff and Customers.

Other places covered during the exercise included Adiyan, Iju, Waterworks, Regional Business Offices, Water Formations, amongst others.
