Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, on Wednesday, donated 150 bags of rice and condiments to Kuje Area Council, as palliatives to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown in the area.
Mr. Moses Duku, Group Head, Media Relations of the company, said the gesture was to complement the council’s efforts at cushioning the impact of the lockdown on vulnerable residents.
According to him, all hands must be on deck to win the war against the COVID-19 pandemic by maintaining physical distancing and personal hygiene.
”We are donating 150 bags of rice and 150 cartons of oil and condiments to support the vulnerable members of our community.
”We have tagged this initiative, ‘Food For Our Community Campaign’ and it is our humble way of identifying with the needs of our people.
“We hope the little we have been able to contribute, will go a long way to alleviating the pains of our people until COVID-19 becomes history,” he said.
Mr Abdullahi Sabo, Chairman of Kuje Area Council, who received the items, thanked the company for the gesture and promised to distribute them to the vulnerable in the area.
The chairman described the intervention as timely, adding that it would mitigate the effect of the lockdown on residents.
Sabo also assured that the items would be distributed equitably to touch the lives of vulnerable residents in the council, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic affiliation.
The council boss advised residents to remain indoors in accordance with the stay-at-home order of the federal government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
