Many Nigerians reacted early this morning to the death of Mallam Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to an announcement by State House, Kyari died from COVID-19.
It was believed that an underlying illness may have complicated his battle with the disease.
As a muslim, Kyari may be buried on Saturday in Abuja.
Here are some of the reactions on Twitter:
Rest In Peace Abba Kyari. He died from COVID-19 yesterday. pic.twitter.com/4e0t1CsZ9f

May the soul of Abba Kyari the chief of staff to Mr President rest in peace. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss. Everyone must complete this circle someday. Be prepared.

Indeed, death is the biggest reminder of all reminders about how fickle this life is. What a reminder this particular one is. May Allah forgive Abba Kyari's shortcomings and give his family and allies the fortitude to bear this loss. Sigh!

Before you celebrate Abba kyari’s dead, remember neither you nor your father or any of your family members are immortal
Death is inevitable and everyone dies eventually

When I chatted with him exactly on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, he assured me his health was fine and that he would faithfully take the treatments. But God always knows best. Sincere condolences to the Kyari family and the Government of Nigeria. Adieu Mallam Abba Kyari. https://t.co/EZ3BX2qibd

Abba Kyari was Buhari’s right hand man. Buhari will feel this in his soul. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

The death of Abba Kyari is undoubtedly going to create a big vacuum to be filled and I won't be surprised if President Muhammadu Buhari leaves the office vacant till the end of his tenure.

So sad to see Nigerians celebrating Abba Kyari’s death? He died at 80. I pray many of us live that long. This is a lesson to Buhari. May nothing bad happen to him because Nigerians will celebrate like we won the World Cup. The reason is because he has failed so woefully.

She hinted of a death that happened in Aso Rock two weeks ago. Abba Kyari died on Friday, 18th April, 2020 in a private hospital in Lagos state.
I am sure you’d also give credit to TB Joshua if the cure to Covid is found today. https://t.co/GUxJCDR6No

Abba Kyari died and we are beginning to hear stories of his kindness, humility and brilliance from those who either joined the mob mentality or looked the other way when he was painted as the demon in Aso Rock
May we all have true friends and reasonable beneficiaries – Amen

Exactly. His death hopefully will make them sit up since they’ve always believed they were invincible. May his soul Rest In Peace anyway

It would be very insensitive of anyone to mock Abba Kyari's death. Where's your humanity?
Don't allow hate take the better part of you. Have empathy for your fellow man.One down, more to go.😒
