Gov. Inuwa Yahaya, Governor of Gombe State

Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, on Thursday, inaugurated treatment and isolation centres in his efforts to combat the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.

There have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state, as results of the 22 suspected persons came out negative.

Yahaya, while briefing newsmen shortly after inaugurating the isolation centre in Kwadon, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area of the state, said the state was preparing for any eventuality.

He said that his administration was putting structures in place so that “we shall be able to do all the management processes within the boundaries of the state.”

The governor added that his administration had committed over N500 million, besides the structures being inaugurated, stressing “no amount is too much to put on the people and we are ready to spend even more.”

On the testing machine for the state, he said that a lot of progress had been made, adding that government was only awaiting the arrival of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machines.

“Besides, we have made arrangements for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to come and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to facilitate all the certifications needed in order to serve the people,” said.

Inuwa commended the traditional rulers and religious bodies for their efforts in creating awareness in their respective communities, while also observing and reporting illegal entries into the state for appropriate action.

The 12-bed capacity treatment centre, which is located inside the state specialist hospital, is fully equipped.

One of the isolation centres, with 150-bed capacity, is situated in Kwadon, while the other, with 50-bed capacity, is in the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
