The coronavirus numbers are getting better in Italy: Above Medical staff in Piacenza

Italy may be on the way to turn the tables against coronavirus as it posted on Sunday its lowest daily death toll in more than weeks.

The country which has the world record in coronavirus fatalities reported 525 dead, lower than the 681 posted on Saturday.

The national death toll is now 15,887.

The number of daily confirmed cases also declined from 4,805 to 4,316.

Italy also posted some good news in recovery cases, rising from 20,996 to 21,815 on Sunday.

While confirmed cases in Spain are now 130,759, Italy has 128,948 cases.

The U.S. is the runaway leader in the grim statistics with 327,848 cases as at 6.30pm Nigerian time.

It is believed that the falling numbers may be indicative that a nationwide lockdown since March 9 could be starting to bear fruit.
