The Speaker, Ogun House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, has admonished wealthy residents to support the state government’s fight against coronavirus pandemic by donating to the poor.

The speaker stated this in an interview with newsmen on Friday in Abeokuta.

Oluomo said that the hardship envisaged during the lockdown of the state from 11 p.m on Friday, April 3, remained a sacrifice towards curtailing the spread of the virus in the state.

He said that during the lockdown, the wealthy should support the state government’s fight against the pandemic by supporting the needy.

He noted that the government would distribute relief materials to the less privileged during the period of the lockdown, hence those who had more should also support the government’s efforts.

He pointed out that the government’s relief materials were for the vulnerable, aged, widows and the extremely poor people in the society.

The speaker enjoined residents to be law-abiding by remaining indoors throughout the lockdown, saying that the best way to curtail the spread of the disease was to obey the government’s directives.

Oluomo added that it was important the relief materials reach the nooks and crannies of the state.
