Nigerian Ministers have supported the Federal Government’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country by donating 50% of their March 2020 salaries.

Senator Gbemisola Saraki, coordinator of the donation by the 43 ministers, said it was a gesture of solidarity for the Federal Government’s efforts.

”This global virus outbreak will require nations, continents and smaller communities to pull together to contribute their resources and support one another”, Saraki said.

“This will facilitate an early resolution of the problem,” she added.

The Ministers commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his leadership role in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Buhari revealed on Thursday that the Federal Government has released N10 billion to Lagos State Government to aid the fight against the disease.

Buhari said government also gave N5billion to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

On Friday night, the NCDC said confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria stood at 81.

There was one fatality and three persons have been discharged.

Lagos led with 52 cases.

Abuja follows with 14, Ogun 3, Oyo 3, Bauchi 2, Enugu 2.

Ekiti, Osun and Rivers have a case each.
