The Senate on Thursday suspended all public hearing and shut its gallery where journalists and members of the public sit to observe plenary.

Dr. Ahmad Lawan, President of the Senate said the closure of its activities to the public was partial and part of the move to curtail the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

According to him, all forms of public hearing and excursion of students to the Senate had been suspended till further notice.

Nigeria’s Federal Government had on Wednesday imposed travel ban on 13 countries, including the US and UK, where the virus is endemic.

As measures to curtail the spread of the disease, several Nigerian states have banned large gatherings and shutdown schools.
