Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos

By Paul Iyoghojie

Litigants who daily throng the Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, to attend to their matters at the court have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and the Chief judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba to, as a matter of urgency, direct the cleaners at the Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court to revert to the old fees of N50 and N30 being charged for defecating and urinating, respectively, at the court.

They said the new fees of N100 and N50 for defecating and urinating, respectively, were not only denting the image of the State Government at the Court, but also inflicting pains on litigants and others at the court.

Some of those who spoke with PM NEWS at the court said they were surprised at the sudden increase in the fees, saying even private toilet operators and those at the High Court, Tinubu Magistrate Court were still charging N50 and N30.

They, therefore, appealed to the state government to urgently cause the cleaners to revert to the old fees of N50 and N30.

A litigant, Mr. Timothy Okeke, said ‘’I am appealing to Governor Sanwo-Olu and Justice Alogba to direct the cleaners at the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court to revert to the old fees of N50 and N30 and stop collecting N100 and N50 from toilet users and to ensure they clean the toilets always with disinfectants to reduce the offensive odour oozing
out from the toilets.”

However, effort to contact the manager in charge of the toilets at the Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for comments was not successful.
