Coronavirus: Jordan imposes multiple travel bans

Health Minister Saad Jaber of Jordan said his country has imposed travel bans to and from some countries having significant outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.

The countries listed by the minister, according to dpa/NAN report, include  France, Germany, Lebanon, Spain and Syria.

Around 300 were put under quarantine after one Jordanian tested positive for the disease.  219 of them are said to have been released after testing negative for the virus.

The ban on Germany, France and Spain will take effect from Monday, Jaber told a news conference.

The country’s border crossings with Israel and Iraq will also be closed to passengers, though transport of goods will still be allowed.

According to the report, Jaber added that Jordan also banned ferry travel to and from Egypt and reduced flights by 50 per cent, only allowing necessary travel.
