2,000 patients get free medical treatment in Bauchi

A Bauchi based NGO, Almuhibbah Foundation, says it has offered free medical treatment to 2,000 patients suffering from various ailments in Bauchi,

The Founder of the organisation, Dr Aisha Mohammed, made the disclosure on Monday in Bauchi.

Mohammed disclosed that the Foundation initiated medical outreach to treat persons with hepatitis, HIV/AIDs, high blood pressure and diabetes conditions as well as eye diseases.

She said that medical screening, tests, consultations, diagnosis and drugs would be provided to the beneficiaries, adding that the exercise was organised in collaboration with an NGO, Hepatitis Zero Commission.

Mohammed said that the exercise was part of the effort to contribute toward enhancing access to quality healthcare services in the state.

“During the exercise, tests will be conducted and our expert will counsel and give out drugs to those diagnosed with any form of ailment listed during the exercise.

“Whoever is diagnosed with an ailment should not give up but rather seek medical advice and commence treatment,’’ she said.

Also speaking, Dr Mike Omotosho, National President, Hepatitis Zero Commission, said that more cases of hepatitis were recorded in the country.

Omotosho noted that hepatitis has become a public health issue, hence the need for collective engagement to prevent the spread of the disease.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Zainab Ibrahim and Maryam Musa lauded the gesture, adding that it would go a long way to improve their health status.
