Media personality, Toke Makinwa, has said cooking shouldn’t be restricted to gender, adding that men should learn how to cook and not base the ‘entirety of picking a life partner’ on their belly.

The ‘On Becoming’ author was reacting to the General Overseer of Redeemed Christain Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye who stated that men should marry a wife who can cook because they cannot afford to be eating out all the time.

The clergy wrote on Twitter: “My sons, don’t marry a lady who cannot cook. She needs to know how to do chores and cook because you cannot afford to be eating out all the time.”

In her reaction, Makinwa wrote on : “Cooking is not restricted to a gender, guys learn how to cook so you don’t base the entirety of picking a life partner on your belly, if you don’t want to, make enough to hire a chef. Life is too short to be triggered all the time.

When Pastor Adeboye says “my sons”, ask ya self are you a member of his flock? Are you his spiritual child, if no, why are you so bothered??? Let him advice his own, if it’s not for you, jump and pass my friends, I promise you won’t go to hell by facing your front.

Makinwa who received huge backlash following her comment went further to advise single people to “marry someone who’s on the same page as you if not in all areas, at least some.

She wrote, “Bants on here…pure hilarious. Strive to date/marry someone who’s on the same page as you if not in all areas, at-least some. You can compromise on some things but It’s healthy if u see life from d same view, you need to live long and not spend the rest of your life explaining.”

“A lot of people grew up in homes where their Mothers were the ones bringing home the Cheques, paying school fees and doing everything. They hid it very well to protect the man’s ego. Nothing new.”
