Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB): staff kidnapped in Kogi

The abductors of six Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) staff kidnapped in Kogi State have made contact with the examination body to demand N50m as ransom, just as the police claimed they have rescued one of the people kidnapped.

The six staff were kidnapped on Kabba – Lokoja road on Sunday.

The state police command spokesman , DSP William Aya, said the rescued man was seen inside the bush where he was abandoned by the abductors. He is lying unconscious in hospital.

He said that the kidnapping was first reported as robbery to the police which immediately embarked on a hot chase of the gunmen and the victims.

Aya said it was in the process that the abandoned victim who claimed to be JAMB staff was found in the late hours of Sunday

He said that another ID card of a JAMB female staff was also recovered from the bush.

The police spokesman said the man rescued was still in hospital receiving treatment.

Aya said the police had not been able to obtain any information from him.

Aya said that the private car in which the victims were travelling has been retrieved, adding that police were intensifying efforts to rescue the remaining people unhurt.

A staff of JAMB, who confirmed the abduction, said that the victims, were from the head office in Abuja, to conduct the mock UTME exams in one of the centres.
