Shun cultism, money for grades, Edo Varsity VC warns students

The Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, has warned the newly admitted students of the University to shun cultism, examination malpractice, blocking, or exchange of money for grades.

The Vice Chancellor who gave the warning during the 5th matriculation ceremony of the University, added that the consequences for these offences is outright expulsion from the University.

“I advised that you read up the rules and regulations of the University, to be properly guided,” he said.

He noted that Edo University Iyamho prides itself to have been the model for the 21st century University in Nigeria, with its world-class technologically-enhanced teaching and learning facilities.

He named such technology tools to include the CANVAS Learning Management System and the rebust Academic Information System (AIS) and the adoption of the Competency Based curriculum in medicine, the Outcome Based Education (OBE) learning system for the faculty of Engineering, Power Laboratories for Physiology students, fully equipped Engineering workshop for teaching multi-scale manufacturing etc.

While congratulating the new students for being found worthy and successful admission into the university, Prof. Aluyor urged them to “use the opportunity to make the best use of the facilities provided, to enhance your learning in the University.”

He disclosed that Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), offered admission to 689 students to study in the University, but that only 503 were cleared and qualified to study in their chosen fields.
