Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution, calling on the State Security Trust Fund Committee to, as a matter of urgency, ensure the immediate distribution of security apparatus, including patrol vans and motorcycles to volatile areas, as well as border towns and communities hosting higher institutions of learning across the State.

The passage followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader and member representing Ado-Odo/Ota I State Constituency, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by the Minority Leader, Ganiyu Oyedeji, and unanimously approved by other lawmakers at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo.

Earlier before the passage of the resolution, the Deputy Speaker and member representing Ijebu North II State Constituency, Dare Kadiri, reported the incessant clash by rival cult groups, which he said had been causing civil unrest in his constituency, while his Remo North counterpart, Solomon Osho, intimated the Assembly that, one of his constituents, Motunrayo Baliquis, who was abducted recently by unknown gunmen on her way to Abuja had regained her freedom.

Responding, Speaker Oluomo, who decried insecurity in the nation, expressed confidence that the proposed South West Security Network code-named “Operation Amotekun”, was capable of reducing the menace in the South West region to the barest minimum.

Oluomo, while charging residents of the State to provide credible information to security agencies to ensure safety of lives and properties, called for drastic measures to reinvigorate the security architecture of the nation and challenged relevant agencies to devise more measures, capable of raising their bar of performance, to effectively provide security coverage in all parts of the State and nation at large.
