Oshiomhole and Obaseki

By Jethro lbileke

Like a headmaster to his errant schoolboy, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has warned his predecessor and national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to comport himself whenever he comes to the state or face punishment.

He also warned leaders and members of the Edo Peoples Movement (EPM), to desist from activities and statements that could lead to a breakdown of law and order in the state.

The Governor gave the warning on Wednesday during a meeting with chairmen of the party across the 18 local government areas of the state.

He said anti-party activities carried out either by Oshiomhole or members of the EPM would be dealt with.

The Governor warned Oshiomhole to desist from his provocative activities or he may be forced, as governor, to invoke his powers to deal with him.

“The party does not belong to him (Oshiomhole); it belongs to all of us. It is the members that make the party supreme and not one individual.

“We are warning the suspended national chairman that if he continues with his activities in the state, I will show him that I am the governor of the state. When he was governor, he would not tolerate the misbehaviour he is exhibiting today.

“I have decided that if Oshiomhole comes to our state to disrupt activities of the state and party, we will deal with him. He stands suspended and in due course we will take appropriate action to expel him if he doesn’t behave well.”

Obaseki also accused Oshiomhole of not supporting the APC while he was governor of the state.

“If there was any regret, it would be the elevation of Oshiomhole to the position of national chairman. My predecessor did not build the party in the state. With all the resources he had, he could not support the party.

“How can we be in power for 10 years in the state and do not have our own party building. As I speak, we are looking for our own land so that we will build our secretariat.

“I have authorised you to deal with anybody who wants to do anything contrary to the APC constitution. We will not allow destructive elements destroy our party.

“The President has urged us to build the party from the base, so anyone who cannot comply with the party structure should leave the party,” he added.

  • The Governor should tread softly, because it was the same man that helped you when you were nobody. Remember that the chair you are sitting on today will be sat on by someone else tomorrow, Mr. Governor, the world is not yours. And it is not your father's property. I respect Oshiomhole because he is a man of integrity. Wait for what will happen in the next election.

  • Oshiomhole like running a system like his personal estate, He want to be on top of everybody, he used Edo money and resources as his personal account, the mansions and villa he has built should be proved, he should be held accountable of his dids.

  • Governor Obaseki, the drums Oyeg.... is beating for you will ruin you. You need all the legal party supports you can get for the coming election. Creating divisiveness in your part will be damaging to your goal and that of other party members.

  • Godwin, no condition is permanent. Rant on before your Ambodelization is perfected, then, you will realize how bad it is, to bite the fingers that fed you. Remember, it wasn't too long Oshiomole took on late Tony Anenih, seems it is your turn to pay him back, while Shuaibu is also contemplating how best to tackle you, matter of time. I'm just wondering if Oshiomole will not deploy his last breath in disproving you, the Ambode way. It's interesting times indeed. Waiting and watching, to see who laughs last. At this junction, common sense demands you need all the support rather than this division greeting the electoral process ahead of you. If there is anything like party supremacy, then it is safe to conclude that you are prepared to bear this gubernatorial flag through another party.
The lesson between Eyinnaya Abaribe and Orji Uzor Kalu should be permanent in the heart of every wise Nigerian, everything just like yesterday. Abaribe roars in the senate, Orji Uzor Kalu roars from the prison. Time does change everything, Obaseki, be careful! Hope you are hearing me? Be wise!
