Femi Fani-Kayode has revealed that Abba Kyari, Malami, Hadi Sirika and Kayode Fayemi were the people who convinced President Muhammadu Buhari to order the release of Sambo Dasuki and Omoyele Sowore.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), on Tuesday, directed the Department of State Service (DSS) to release the duo who had been granted bail by courts in the past.

Dasuki has been in detention since June 2015, while Sowore was arrested on 3 August.

Dasuki, the first person to be incarcerated, was arrested over a multi-billion dollar and naira slush funds that emanated from his office as National Security Adviser. The money meant to prosecute the insurgency in the country and equip the military ended up in politicians’ pockets for matters unrelated to security. Sowore was arrested for calling for Revolution and insulting President Buhari.

Speaking on how they got released from detention, Fani-Kayode wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: “I can tell you authoritatively that 4 people fought from within to get Dasuki & Sowore released & eventually managed to convince Buhari. They are Abba Kyari, Malami, Hadi Sirika and Kayode Fayemi. They represent the liberal and cerebral wing of the Buhari Govt. & I commend them.”
