Femi Fani-Kayode has revealed that Abba Kyari, Malami, Hadi Sirika and Kayode Fayemi were the people who convinced President Muhammadu Buhari to order the release of Sambo Dasuki and Omoyele Sowore.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), on Tuesday, directed the Department of State Service (DSS) to release the duo who had been granted bail by courts in the past.

Dasuki has been in detention since June 2015, while Sowore was arrested on 3 August.

Dasuki, the first person to be incarcerated, was arrested over a multi-billion dollar and naira slush funds that emanated from his office as National Security Adviser. The money meant to prosecute the insurgency in the country and equip the military ended up in politicians’ pockets for matters unrelated to security. Sowore was arrested for calling for Revolution and insulting President Buhari.

Speaking on how they got released from detention, Fani-Kayode wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: “I can tell you authoritatively that 4 people fought from within to get Dasuki & Sowore released & eventually managed to convince Buhari. They are Abba Kyari, Malami, Hadi Sirika and Kayode Fayemi. They represent the liberal and cerebral wing of the Buhari Govt. & I commend them.”

  1. These people, Dasuki and Sowore had been released. Whether US threatened Nigeria or not. The important thing is that, the government of Buhari that detained them in the first place had released them. Therefore what’s all the noise of how or cause of their release.

  3. I think FFK has a right to seek relevance from time to time. . My only problem with him is his insensitivity to the sensibilities of people whose boats he ride to his own personal harbour of destination.
Like trying to rename us the Yoruba people as “Anago”.
Like carelessly vilifying Islam and Muslims and asserting his Christianity in condemning his perceived or real Hausa/Fulani foes.
For the sake of his relevance, now, he has found something to say in favour of his sworn foes.
    FFK, the relevance seeker.

  4. Is FFK now among the PMB’s cabals? Or is he begging to get his attention? Let him go and rest. Aviation ministry is no long within his reach!

  5. That’s General Buhari for you. He is the Executive and the Judiciary. Comedy of democracy.
Those who voted for him must be cursing their wrong judgement.

  6. The presidency said Buhari’s was not involved in their incarceration so how come he was able to give the order for their release.
