Senator Ike Ekweremadu being manhandled in Germany by IPOB members. But the police say no arrest will be made

GERMAN police authorities, Landespolizie in Nuremberg, Germany have disclosed that no arrest has been made and will be made in connection with the Saturday attack on Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy Senate President.

Ekweremadu, who represents Enugu West in the Senate, was in Nüremberg for the New Yam when some aggrieved members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) attacked him.

The police authorities, according to a post by icirnigeria.org dismissed the attack as “just a protest” and said no arrest was made and didn’t have plans of making any future arrest.

“There was nothing much about this senator from Nigeria that came. About 30 persons demonstrated against him and the police were called and they called the situation down and the senator drove away in his car.

“Nothing happened, so there is not going to be any arrests. No arrests were made, nothing. No police investigation will be carried out in relations to the chaos,” said a police press officer in Nüremberg.

  • Germany as an arm manufacturer are looking for those to indirectly sponsor to create market for their arms. Mark it, they are not showing genie solidarity to IPOB. USSR did same to market their arms to Biafra in the 1967-1970 civil war in Nigeria. Other arms manufacturers did so and are doing so in North Africa, Sudan, Southern Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Afganistan, Iraq etc. While they smiled to their banks, we cried to the burial grounds; we better be careful.

    • It is wrong to say that USSR supplied arms to Biafra during the war. It is rather the opposite. I remembered vividly when Biafra radio castigated Russia during the news talk how they rather did so to Nigeria government to destroy innocent Biafra radio. It said 'Nigeria government went to Russia to beg for arms, Russia who does not know God',... the radio echoed including many other things against Russia.

  • No issue of big man or small man in Germany, surprisingly they dismissed it as" mere chaos" and do not intend to make any arrest, no further investigation.

  • Order from above does not work in a civilised country like Germany, police takes their orders from judiciary arm of government after an investigation not from president that's democracy in action, for those calling for arrest German police have given you an answer.

  • Nigeria Police Force should learn from this article. You guys think that Germany is like Nigeria where the Police or Army are being used as rags by this most corrupt, clueless and inept government of Buhari and his cohorts.
    Shame on Nigeria

    • One can call the present government anything but not "corrupt, clueless or inept. Redirecting a nation that has been battered and looted over the years, especially during the 16 years of locusts of PDP, and the worst years during the period of Jonathan, a man with no mind of his own, who have no control over his own family but was forced on us by the evil, vindictive, and Nigerian greatest looter called Obasanjo, would take years.
