Elections: Soldiers enforce vehicular restriction along Abuja-Kaduna Road

Some vehicles around Zuba, Madalla and Kaduna Road in Abuja and Suleja and Tafa Local Governments of Niger were apprehended by military personnel at Madalla market Junction and Zuma Barracks in Suleja Local Government.

The acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, had ordered restriction of vehicular movement from 6 a.m to 6 p.m.

A news correspondent who monitored the implementation of the order observed that motorists were seen violating the order along Abuja Kaduna Expressway and within the metropolis.

Scores of cars and articulated vehicles were apprehended by military personnel at Zuma Barracks junction in compliance with the order.

Bilya Abdulkarim, a resident of Kaduna Road, Suleja, said that he meet the military personnel at Madalla Market arresting motorists who violate the directive.

He said “I was not allowed to pass via Abuja Kaduna route and had to take another route to polling unit.

Similarly, Umar Abdulkarim, another resident, said some soldiers were also at Zuma Barracks to implement
the restriction order.
