Edo Government has promised to offset medical bills of two ex-officials of Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin who are fighting life-threatening ailments.

The State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, made the promise when he paid an unscheduled visit to the two ex-officials, Pulley Osayande, and George Omokaro.

Omokaro was a former captain of the club, a former Chairman of the State FA as well as an ex-board member of the NFF, Osayande was the club’s driver for several years.

According to Shaibu, the Godwin Obaseki-led Government will not turn its back on those who have served the state meritoriously.

“The information on your health condition reached me yesterday and I feel you people deserve our support. And I want you to know that you are not abandoned.

“We are taking care of your medical bills and will also follow up with the process till you are fine,” he said.

Shaibu immediately directed the relocation of Osayande from a private hospital where he was convalescing after a surgery to UBTH for better medical attention.

Omokaro is the father of ex-International, Bright Omokaro, better known as “Mr 10-10’’ and the current captain of the club, Charles Omokaro.
