An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court ,on Friday, sentenced a 24-year-old man, Adewale Wasiu, to five years imprisonment for house-breaking and stealing.

The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, sentenced the convict as he pleaded guilty, but gave him N50,000 option of fine.

The convict, whose address was not provided, is facing charges of house- breaking and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, had told the court that the convict and others at large, committed the offences on Jan.16, at about 11:00a.m. at Egbewa area of Ado-Ekiti.

Akinwale said that the convict and others at large, broke into the house of one Mrs Felicia Funke.

He also said that the convict and others at large, stole a plasma 32 inches television valued at N75,000 and plumbing materials, worth N100,000, belonging to the complainant.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 412 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor furnished the court with the fact of the case, saying the convict confessed to the crime.

He told the court that the convict came from Lagos to Ikere-Ekiti, for a burial with his friends, and they told him to accompany them to somewhere.

The prosecutor said that when they got to the house, they broke the iron burglary proof and entered into the house, where they stole the television.

He said that they sold the television for N25,000, but the convict was given N6,000 as his own share of the money.

He added that the following day, they went back to the house and stole a generator, in the process, they were caught, two fled, while he was apprehended by the police.

The prosecutor told the court that efforts of the police to locate the buyer of the television and others at large, proved abortive.
