Armed hoodlums dressed in military combat uniform on Friday kidnapped Dr. Anugbom Onuoha, the Special Adviser to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Lands and Survey.

Anugbom was kidnapped in a hotel located along the Ada George road in Port Harcourt.

When contacted, the Spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni,confirmed the incident.

“It is true that Dr Anugbom Onuoha, was kidnapped by hoodlums in military uniforms. The Commissioner of Police, Usman Belel, has issued a marching order to all the tactical units, anti-kidnapping units and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) monitoring unit to work round the clock to ensure that the victim is released in record time,” he said.

He said security agencies and other stakeholders had been contacted to nab the kidnappers and ensure that the victim is released in record time.

Our correspondent in Port Harcourt reports that the kidnap of Governor Wike’s top aide was one of the major high profile kidnap incidents since the new Commissioner of Police assumed duty in the state less than two weeks ago.
