Manchester City held off Bournemouth 3-1 to record their sixth consecutive Premier League win and move five points clear at the top of the table, at least for a day.

Pep Guardiola’s defending champions went ahead in the 16th minute as Bernardo Silva swept into a net exposed after Asmir Begovic came out to block from Leroy Sane.

Bournemouth levelled just before the break, when Callum Wilson powered home a header from a Simon Francis cross.
