A 24-year old student of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, Jerry Manya has been paraded by the Edo State Police Command for alleged kidnapping.
The 200-level chemical engineering student was paraded with 37 other suspects arrested across the state for various crimes ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery and cultism.
Manya was arrested at Urumehen, Orhionmwon local government area of Edo state, for alleged involvement in the kidnap of two reverend fathers, namely, Joseph Ediae and Victor Adigboluja.
He, however, denied involvement in the kidnap of the clergymen.
Speaking with journalists at the police command headquarters in Benin, Manie said he came from Zaria to Urumehen to work as hired labourer to enable him raise money for his education.
He said he was on his way to buy exol 5, a hard substance which he takes to enhance his physical performance while working in the farm, when he was picked up by police operatives and accused of involvement in the kidnap.
Other suspects paraded included Shehu Ibrahim and Juli Buba, both 20 years old, who were arrested for alleged involvement in the kidnap of a former chairman of NBA, Auchi branch, Barr. Anthony Atemagbo and one Dr. Edeawe Osahogie.
Joan, the wife of the former NBA chairman was also killed in the process by the kidnappers.
Also paraded were Isah Umoru and Usman Shaibu, who were said to be in a kidnap gang that abducted three persons along Igarra-Aiyetoro road, in Akoko-Edo local government area.
The police authority said four members of the gang were arrested and N300,000 recovered from them.
The State Police Commissioner, Babatunde Kokumo, who paraded the suspects, said his men would not relent in their fight against criminal activities in the state.
