The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed 1709 Corps members, Batch “C” Stream II for Jigawa and Bauchi for orientation course to Jigawa.

The State NYSC Coordinator, Jigawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad disclosed this at the swearing-in ceremony of the corps members in Dutse on Monday.

He explained that out of the number, Jigawa has registered 1 219 comprising of 720 males and 499 females, while Bauchi State has 490 comprising of 224 males and 266 female corps members.

Ibrahim stated that the orientation programme was meant to acquaint the NYSC members with the basic skills, concepts, challenges and self-reliance needed for nation-building.

He said that the exercise was also aimed to keep the corps members well informed and exposed to a different environment.

The Coordinator, however, warned that indiscipline and any act of misconduct will not be tolerated during the exercise.

In a remark, Jigawa Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru urged the corps members to feel at home, stressing that their security is guaranteed.

Badaru, who was represented by the State Head of Service, Alhaji Inuwa Tahir, enjoined the corps members to learn the people’s language, culture and tradition.

He announced that state government has provided decent accommodation in all the nooks and crannies of the state for the corps members to make the service year conducive and memorable.
